Yoga for Trauma is based on the Hatha style of yoga and is modified to build empowerment for those living with trauma by cultivating a more positive relationship to one’s body and gradually expanding tolerance for having a body.
Yoga for Trauma prioritizes gentleness in movement, removing any strongly suggestive language, eliminating hands on assists or touch by the instructor and highlighting opportunities for participants to adjust the practice to a level and pace that feels appropriate for them.
Making choices, experiencing the present moment and becoming comfortable inhabiting one’s body are the main themes of the practice.
This program is suitable for adults 18+ experiencing any form of trauma from PTSD to complex or relational trauma. No yoga experience is necessary.
The program will be offered in 6 weekly, 1-hour classes with a maximum of 9 participants.
Pre-registration is required. The fee will be pro-rated if joining later in the session. An intake phone call with Jennifer will be arranged prior to one’s first class.
If you are a therapist and would like more information about what your client can expect, please contact Jennifer email@example.com and she will be happy to answer any question you have.
